BrainRot Doctor Privacy Policy

BrainRot Doctor (“the app”, “we”, “us”, “our”) is built and operated by Dhiman Labs (developer: Sahil Dhiman), an independent developer based in India. This policy explains what the app stores, why, where it lives, and how long we keep it.

Our rule is simple: we store only what the app genuinely needs to work. Most of what BrainRot Doctor does happens entirely on your phone and never leaves it.

The short version

• The core app (counting short videos, goals, and limits) runs 100% on your device. No account required, nothing uploaded.
• You only create an account if you choose to join Battle (the friends leaderboard). That is the only feature that stores anything in the cloud.
• Your on-device usage history is automatically deleted after 4 weeks.
• We use no analytics, advertising, tracking, or crash-reporting SDKs.
• We never see, store, or transmit the content of your screen or the videos you watch.

What stays on your device (never uploaded)

Stored only in the app’s private storage on your phone:

• Your goals, limits, and schedules, including which apps each goal covers.
• Your short-video counts per day and per-app time: the tallies that power your stats and goals.
• Your lifetime short-video count and the number of days tracked: the totals shown on your Stats screen.
• Cached copies of your Battle friends’ handles and counts, so the leaderboard still works offline.
• Your app preferences: toggles, theme, language, and onboarding state.

To detect a short video or which app is in the foreground, the app’s Accessibility service reads only the minimum on-screen information needed, in the moment. This is used instantly and never stored, logged, or transmitted. We never capture screenshots, video content, messages, or keystrokes.

What we store in the cloud (only if you join Battle)

Battle is the optional friends leaderboard. To make it work, when you sign in we store the following using Google Firebase (Authentication + Cloud Firestore):

• Your email address and a unique account ID (via Firebase Authentication). With Google Sign-In, your Google name and profile photo are also included.
• Your chosen username (handle) and a personal invite code, so friends can add you.
• Your weekly short-video count: the aggregate number that ranks the leaderboard and places you in a league. We store this weekly total, not your detailed per-day history.
• Your friends: the friend requests and friendships you make (the two account IDs and handles involved).
• Whether you have Pro (your entitlement status).

That is the complete list of personal data we store about you. To summarise: your name and photo (from Google), your username, your friends, whether you’re Pro, and your weekly count live in the cloud; your lifetime count and days tracked stay on your device. We do not store any other personal data, only what the app needs to run smoothly. If you never sign in, none of the cloud data exists, and BrainRot Doctor stores nothing about you off your device.

Purchases (Pro)

Pro (the lifetime unlock and the subscription plans) is handled by Google Play Billing. Google processes the payment; we never see or store your card or payment details. On our side we store only a simple flag for whether your account is Pro.

Your purchase belongs to your Google account and is held by Google Play, not by us. So even if you delete your BrainRot Doctor account, your purchase is safe: reinstall the app and sign in again with the same Google account, and the app asks Google Play whether you own Pro and restores it automatically. We don’t need to keep any purchase record for this to work.

How long we keep things (retention)

• On-device usage history (daily short-video counts and per-app time): automatically deleted after 4 weeks (28 days) by a daily background task. Older rows are removed for good.
• Other on-device data (goals, settings, preferences): kept until you change it, and erased entirely when you uninstall the app.
• Account and Battle data (email, name, username, invite code, weekly count, friends, Pro flag): kept while your account exists. You can delete it at any time (see Your choices and rights).
• Pro status: the Pro flag on your account is removed when you delete your account. Your actual purchase stays with Google Play and can be restored any time you sign in again with the same Google account.

Permissions, and why they stay local

• Accessibility service: to detect short videos and the foreground app so we can count them and enforce your limits. Read in the moment, never stored or sent.
• Display over other apps: to show the live counter and nudges.
• Notifications: to deliver the limit nudges you set for yourself.

None of the data these permissions touch is uploaded. It exists solely to run features on your phone.

Third parties we rely on

• Google Firebase (Authentication & Cloud Firestore): stores the account and Battle data described above.
• Google Play Billing: processes Pro purchases.
• Google Sign-In (Credential Manager): signs you in for Battle.

These services are operated by Google and governed by the Google Privacy Policy. To provide them, Google may process technical data such as your IP address and device identifiers for security and reliability. We do not use analytics, advertising, attribution, or crash-reporting SDKs, and this website sets no cookies and runs no trackers.

Where your data is processed

Cloud data is stored and processed on Google’s Firebase infrastructure, which may host data on servers outside your country. Google maintains safeguards for such international transfers.

Your choices and rights

Wherever you live, you can:

• Access the data tied to your account.
• Correct your handle or profile.
• Delete your account and all associated cloud data: instantly in the app under Settings → Delete account, or by requesting deletion here. This removes your name, username, invite code, friends, weekly count, and Pro flag.
• Remove friends at any time, which deletes the shared friendship record for both of you.
• Clear on-device data by uninstalling the app, or via your system’s app settings.

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights:

• EEA / UK (GDPR): access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and objection. Our legal bases are your consent (joining Battle) and performance of a contract (providing Pro and the features you request). You can withdraw consent by signing out and requesting deletion.
• California (CCPA / CPRA): the rights to know, delete, and correct. We do not sell or share your personal information, and we do not use it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
• India (DPDP Act): the rights to access, correction, and erasure of your personal data.

Children

BrainRot Doctor is intended for users 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has created a Battle account, contact us and we’ll delete it.

Security

Cloud data is protected by Firebase security rules that restrict each record to the account(s) it belongs to. On-device data is stored in the app’s private storage and excluded from cloud backups. No system is perfectly secure, but we keep the risk small by design, by collecting almost nothing.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes, we’ll update the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised policy.
